Just a Color MAG

      Black is just a color

It’s not who I am

It’s not a personality

So it’s not who I’ve got to be

I could’ve been as light as sand

But I chose to be as dark as midnight

I could’ve been an English queen

But I chose to be a Nubian goddess

N---- is not my name

So don’t call me by it

I’m not somebody’s homegirl

So don’t expect me to be rollin’ with thugs

I’m not your sista

’Cause we didn’t come from the same womb

I’m not somebody’s baby mama

So don’t expect me to come home pregnant

A lot of things come to mind when people think black

Like stupid, violent, scary, ignorant, different, and ugly

But I think of it as beautiful, brave, bold, and world changing

I wasn’t brought up in the ’hood

So don’t expect me to be ghetto

I hope this poem makes a difference

’Cause black is just a color

It’s not who I am

Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future.

I had a best friend named Tatyana. She may have been black, but we had more similarities than differences. Two yonuger sisters(one of mine was in the same grade as one of hers and were good friends themselves), divorced parents, same age, gender, school, etc. When I went to that school, there was a poster like this article.

This quote is one I made up.....<br /> &quot; You can&#039;t climb a mountian without a harness.&quot; It means that you can&#039;t go where you want to get in life without the help of your friends or family.

My best friend (Mavis) is black and my teacher is very racist (did I spell that right?) My teacher doesn't like people that are black. It gets very awkward with her and Mavis sometimes. I stand up for her as much as I can.

Don&#039;t frown, you never know who is falling in love with your smile!

i agree we aren't the color of our skin we are who we are. no one can categorize us into colors.

This is really good. Most people dont think of blacks as being normal people just like the whites. I hate that there is so much drama over a skin color.
