Perfect.
PERFECT.
GLANCING, WISHING, WONDERING WHY YOU CAN’T BE LIKE THE GIRLS AROUND YOU. THINKING, I LOVE HER HAIR, HER SHOES ARE SO CUTE! SHE IS SO SKINNY AND PRETTY, SHE IS…
PERFECT.
THE TRUTH IS, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PERFECT. IM 14 YEARS OLD. IM 5’3’’ AND IM NOT THE SKINNIEST PERSON. THE MAJORITY OF MY FRIENDS WEAR SIZES 00-4, I MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT. THE MAJORITY OF MY FRIENDS ARE CONSIDERED
PERFECT.
THESE DAYS TEEN GIRLS ARE FEELING PRESSURED TO BE PERFECT. PEOPLE ARE CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT THEIR HAIR, MAKE-UP, CLOTHES, SHOES, AND OVERALL APPEARANCE, AND I’M ONE OF THEM. IT’S OKAY TO CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE, AND IT’S OKAY TO DO YOUR HAIR AND MAKE-UP, BUT WE AS TEENAGE GIRLS TAKE IT OVERBOARD. THESE DAYS TEEN GIRLS FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE TO BE
PERFECT.
TO ME, IT’S NOT ABOUT BEING PERFECT, IT’S ABOUT BEAUTY. IT’S ABOUT YOUR INNER AND OUTER BEAUTY. EVERYONE ALREADY HAS OUTER BEAUTY, NOW IT’S TIME FOR US AS TEENAGE GIRLS TO WORK ON OUR INNER BEAUTY. IT’S TIME TO FOCUS ON EVERYTHING EXCEPT TRYING TO BE
PERFECT.
SURVEYS SHOW THAT THE MAJORITY OF TEENAGE GIRLS ARE CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT HOW THEY LOOK, ABOUT BEING PERFECT. TEEN GIRLS ARE LIKE A SUSPENSION BRIDGE, WE CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH WEIGHT UNTIL WE BREAK. BY THIS I MEAN WE AS TEEN GIRLS CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH SCHOOL, DRAMA, FRIENDS, BOYS, AND HOMEWORK BEFORE WE BREAK. TRYING TO BE PERFECT JUST ADDS ONTO THAT WEIGHT BECAUSE YOU CAN’T ACHIEVE THE IMPOSSIBLE, AND THE IMPOSSIBLE IS
PERFECT.
WHY IS BEING PERFECT SUCH A BIG DEAL IN A TEENAGE GIRLS LIFE? TEENAGE BOYS DON’T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK ABOUT THEM SO WHY SHOULD GIRLS? NO ONE WILL EVER BE
PERFECT.
TEEN GIRLS THINK THAT THE ONLY KIND OF BEAUTIFUL IS PEOPLE LIKE THE VICTORIAS SECRET MODELS, WHEN HONESTLY ALL THEY ARE IS THE SKINNY, GOOD BODY KIND OF BEAUTIFUL. THIS ISN’T THE ONLY KIND OF BEAUTIFUL. THERE IS THE CURVY, TALL, SHORT, WHITE, BLACK, ASAIN, SKINNY, LONG HAIR, SHORT HAIR, BLONDE HAIR, AND BLACK HAIR KIND OF BEAUTIFUL. BEAUTY COMES IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES, AND AS CHRISTINA AGUALARA SAID “WE ARE BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY SINGLE WAY” THIS JUST COMES TO SHOW THAT NOTHING IS ACTUALLY
PERFECT.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL; DON’T EVER LET ANYONE MAKE YOU THINK OTHERWISE. EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL, NO MATTER WHAT THE CELEBRITIES, NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES AND TV TELLS US. OUR NATION HAS MADE PEOPLE THINK SIZE 0 IS THE ONLY KIND OF BEAUTIFUL BUT ALL THAT THER’RE TRYING TO DO IS MAKE YOU WANT TO BE
PERFECT.
THIS IS COMING FROM A TEENAGE GIRL HERSELF. THIS IS ME TELLING YOU THAT LIFE IS FOR LIVING TO THE FULLEST, NOT FOR TRYING TO BE PERFECT AND GETTING PUT DOWN WHEN YOUR NOT. DON’T EVER LET YOURSELF GET PUT DOWN AGAIN BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE THE PERFECT BODY OR THE BEST HAIR, BECAUSE IF YOU ASK ANYONE IF THEY WOULD RATHER SEE REAL PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE THE BEST BODY OR FAKE PEOPLE WITH THE BEST BODY IN THE WORLD, I BET MOST OF THEM WOULD SAY REAL BECAUSE THEY KNOW THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS
PERFECT.
BEING PERFECT SHOULD NOT BE WHAT A TEEN GIRLS LIFE IS ABOUT. WE SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON SPORTS, SCHOOL, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS. WE SHOULD LIVE OUR LIFE AND FOCUS ON BEING
NORMAL.
