Sam and I
The sun shone dimly that day,
it’s rays in a battle with the clouds to reach us,
Sam and I.
It had rained all day
and everything held a certain grey-ness to it.
Even my new blue jeans seemed dull.
Sam and I just sat there,
watching the clouds
and the dancing grass
from my front porch.
Friends don’t always have to talk to understand each other, you know?
I got Sam.
He got me.
And we both got
that it wasn’t a time for talking.
