I Have a Dream
I have a dream
王智毅 Jerry
In the world, different people have different dreams. Dreams can be big or small, and they simply depend on what you decide. However,as a saying goes, “No pain, no gain.” It is necessary to know that making a dream come true needs actions. The dream is the other shore, and the reality is on this side. Thus, we have to take action to build a bridge which connects both sides.
I used to have a dream in my childhood. My grandfather was a soldier when he was young. I always enjoyed listening to his stories about his experience in the military. My grandfather told me that he always woke up early in the morning and finished keeping the army dormitory in order as soon as possible. Then, he and his group had to be on sentry duty to protect our homeland. However, at that time, the conditions were very difficult for them. They did not have enough food to eat. Even worse, they might sacrifice their lives for our country. As a result, all the people respected them as heroes.
My grandfather left a deep impact on me, so I once made up my mind to participate in the army. Because of this, I was obsessed with dressing up as a soldier every day. Imagine that—a little boy with a toy gun on his shoulder in a soldier’s salute as he valiantly told others that he would join the army to protect his country.
However, with the development of technology, I eventually realized that an ordinary soldier plays a minor role in a war. Now that I have begun paying more and more attention to the advancement and accuracy of the weapon, my mind and my future goals have changed. No longer am I that little boy with grandiose dreams of being soldier. Now, I dream of being an expert in military science and technology in order to invent equipment to protect my country and to win glory for it. This is my final dream.
And to accomplish such great things, I have only dreams, but also belief. My dream is the starting line, and my knowledge will be my forward accelerator. With my persistence and will to succeed, I will take action, fueled by a purposeful dream and a strong conviction, ever facing the future with the hope in my heart.
