Breakfast All the Time MAG

By Anonymous

Bacon and syrup smells
Waft around her
Morning and night.
She walks on aching legs
And throbbing feet
Back and forth,
With grease concoctions in hand.
She smiles at gruff truckers
And their awkward flirtation.
She clears away
Plates and glasses
And wipes up the sticky crumbs
Of strangers.
She lifts up plates to find
Crisp green paper,
Breathes a sigh of relief.
Then she turns
And goes home,
Chased by the scent.
Waffles and eggs and bacon and cheese,
It’s breakfast all the time.
