A Tribute to You
“An individual who breaks a law that conscience
Tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the
Penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience
Of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing
The highest respect for the law.”
As spoken from the mouth of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
You and me
We all want the same thing in the end
To have our voices heard above the crowd
To have justice sought
And achieved
To be able to look back and know that we did all we could
Not all we that we should
To know we did things for the greater good
No matter what was thrown our way
To just want the satisfaction of everything turning out for the right
Not the wrong
He who spoke those intelligent words
Sought and achieved the greatest justice that ever was
He who risked it all to guarantee our nation a future
Without him we would not be the united nation we are
If it were not he who helped show us the path
Then who else could it be?
No one was as brave and courageous as he
No one knew better and more righteously than he
He is truly the definition of justice
A hero whose spirit still lies among us
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
