Student in 2024
Being a student today is like being a piece of paper between two books–squished. I can not advocate enough how many times I look at my countless missing assignments and always see myself checking grades just to tell my parents I have an A in my class.
Over the past year, I have never been more stressed out and under tension with school. There are countless nights where I see myself checking Skyward ten times, listening to music to get my assignments done, and drinking an energy drink to keep going. Every day is stressful, I find myself striving and stressing myself out just to be the best student I can be and not be behind the rest of the world and the students among me.
School loves to put all types of pressures and tension on you, they try to challenge you but at a point, there is always too much of it. If school was really easy like some will say I would not find myself up all night just to get one or even two assignments done. Going back to the pressures I face in high school I have experienced throughout my academic career. First off, it would have to be the big workload, balancing your schedule with school, and academic and personal competition with not only yourself but others.
A school is a place where they try to make everyone have the same standards of expectation, but in reality, it will never be that way because everyone in the school holds different values, expectations, and personalities making them different from one another. For example, in my life, I have been in multiple math courses that were held to a fast-paced learning setting. In these math courses, I was held to a standard that I would be able to learn fast and be able to move units quickly but in reality, that was not the type of learner I am and I was held to the school's standard. Being a student today is being stressed out constantly and being held to a specific standard, always stressing out just to see that A on your paper.
