“You suck. You’re a loser for not going to school events and not trying out for sports.” I’m not a loser because it’s you who is preventing me from going and playing. I’m not going to lie, it hurt to hear my own parents call me a loser, but yet it’s not my fault. When I ask to go school events, I get the response of, “ No you can not go and that’s the final answer.” Hearing them call me a loser made me break down. I’m the oldest daughter, which means I have to do my best and set an example for my siblings, makes things harder. I’m trying, I really am, but I still get put down because it’s “not enough” and they see me as “not motivated” anymore. Even though I do everything they want and I go into things with a growth mindset, it seems like I’m not doing the right thing. I ask myself all the time, “What am I doing wrong?”
