Bruises

Bruises freckled my arms. I reached into my backpack, removed my journal, and wrote:
it’s not fair. i never did anything. i only tried to be her friend when nobody else was. but now look where i am. i’m sitting here, hurt and broken inside out. the sun is hidden behind the clouds that seem to never part. i can never tell when the pain will come. i can never tell when she will come and hit me again. why do her hands hurt so much? but i can never tell anyone. i can’t make her go through anymore than what she is going through right now.

For this set piece, I wanted to try using repetition and purposely not capitalizing the beginning of each sentence. I like how the beginning of each sentence is repeated, but in different forms.
