My First Day of Camp

I had butterflies in my stomach. All the kids were gathering with their groups. The groups were separated from ages and gender. It was the first day of camp, we just ate breakfast, and all of the kids and the leaders were coming to meet new people. I was a little excited but mostly scared. Once everyone was found and in their groups, we sang a brief song, and I will never forget it as long as I live,it even had hand motions. Once we were done singing and the song was over, we went our separate ways. On our way out of the mess hall, it was very crowded. We sat in a circle and introduced ourselves to each other. We also said one thing about ourselves. I remember what most of the girls said but not all of them.”I`m Laura and I`ll be your leader this week” “I`m Zippy and I like to have fun” “I`m Love and I like to tube” and so on and so forth. I was like, these are some weird names. After we all met each other we got up and went to go to the camp zipline, which was 40 ft above the ground You would start at a platform and end across the camp yard. The stairs were the worst part. I felt sick heading up those long, old brown, stairs. After everyone got a turn, we went bowling. There was a lot of kids bowling. After the leaders said we had to leave from bowling, we went to the event room, which had a gym, rock climbing, and more. We had some snacks and talked for a little bit and then, we went our separate ways. The day went way better than I thought. It was a lot of fun. I don't really know why I was nervous in the first place. It was a great experience that I will never forget about Starlite Shores.

Starlite Shores Family Camp is not your typical summer camp. It is a place where families with loved ones with a history of cancer can come and meet new people have fun and take their mind off of everything they`ve been through. It is a great place that really makes a difference in people`s lives. I know it did on mine. The people are so nice there. I met a lot of new people and I loved the entire week.
