My first camping trip
The campfire brought us together. It was the first time I had been with people for a long time. I was so excited to see people. There was a global pandemic called Covid-19. I was locked in my house and wasn’t allowed to go anywhere, then my mom came home from work one day and told me we were going on a camping trip. I was so excited because it was my first time going places in months.
When I was packing for the trip I was packing for 3 days and 2 nights. I packed hoodies and sweatpants for the night. For during the day I packed shorts and some T-shirts and tank tops. When I started packing I was excited and nervous because I’ve never been camping before. I was a little bit annoyed because I had to share a suitcase with my sister. I was annoyed because she went through my stuff and stole some of my clothes. Before we left my mom went to the Grocery store and got some camping supplies from the attic. She also got a tent from dick’s sporting goods. Then we finally packed everything in the car and left.
We were going to a campsite in New Hampshire which was like an hour away. For the car ride I had a blanket and a charger for my phone. I had the blanket because it was cold in the car and if I wanted to go to sleep. One of my friends called me so I was talking to him on the way there. I slept on the phone because I accidentally fell asleep. I woke up when we hit a bump because I hit my head on the window. Eventually we got to the camp.
When we got to the campsite we started by setting up the tents. My sister didn’t help at all, my mom, dad, and I are the only ones that set it up. After we set everything up we went and said hi to everyone else that was there. When we were saying hi we were allowed to hold the babies so I held one and my sister held the other. It was like 5:00 in the afternoon when we got there and we hadn't eaten anything so we made hamburgers and hot dogs. Later that night when we ate we had a bonfire and made smores. Then we went to sleep. While we were sitting at the campfire my mom said, “How are you enjoying the trip” I replied with “I’m enjoying it and I want to do it again”.
The next day was rainy in the morning but it got sunny throughout the day. There was a pool at the campsite so we went swimming. It was around 11:00 a.m when we went swimming so when we got back it was around time for lunch. For lunch we made chicken and pork. Later that day we went fishing. This was my first time fishing and I caught a fish but I don’t remember what it was called. We were talking for most of the day until it was time for dinner.
This was the last day we were there. This day we took pictures and just talked. We hung out most of the day and didn’t do much. For breakfast we had bacon and cereal. I don’t really like bacon so I didn’t have that. We packed up all of our stuff into the car. When we were leaving we had to say bye to everyone which was sad because we haven’t seen them in so long. When I was in the car I ended up falling asleep in the car.
When we got home I was wicked tired and wanted to go to sleep. I ended up unpacking and eating some pizza for lunch. After I finished eating I took a shower and went to sleep. That was the end of my camping trip.
I had so much fun and want to do it again. I want to do it again because I got to spend a lot of time with family and became closer to them. I think camping is good because it’s a good bonding experience for family or friends. I made lots of good memories like sleeping in a tent for the first time, going fishing, sitting around the campfire with family, and more.
