The Effects of Food
“What do you want to eat?” My mom asked on our way home from another baseball game during the summer. My mind started to race as I looked out the window and thought about all of my favorite places: Chick-fil-a, Mcdonalds, Panda Express. As we got off the freeway we passed a strip mall, and as I looked out the window, I knew exactly where I wanted to go; Qdoba. The thought of my favorite bowl with steak, beans, rice and queso made my mouth water. I told my mom and she agreed, pulling into the parking lot. I hopped out of the car and went inside. The smell of rice and beans floated around me, the classic Qdoba smell, made me so hungry. I ordered my signature bowl and went to a table. I wolfed down my food and chugged my drink. “What a great meal,” I thought to myself as my mom and I left to go back to our hotel. This was a common recurrence for me, as I was gone playing in baseball tournaments in states like Iowa, Indiana, and Illinois throughout June and July.
I spend my time eating many meals on the road, as we travel, or when I have nothing else to do. Sometimes I go out with my team to eat and spend time with them. Other times I go with one of my close friends, who also goes to Arrowhead, and has been one of my friends for a long time. We have been through a lot together and have always had each other's backs. Brady and I spend our summers together, as we are on the same team. He started playing on the same travel ball team as me a couple years ago, and since then we have always done a lot together. We go to eat with his family and little brother, who always has a lot of energy. Eating together allows me to bond with others, and spend quality time with them, while also enjoying a great meal.
