Dealing with failure
My school once organised a public speaking contest ; as it did not include but common core and nineth grade students , I was sitting in the audience wathing the perfomances . One girl had seemed to me quite confident while we were in the bus and indeed she spoke english quite fluently . I waited impatiently for her turn . Her subject was human rights , but it was somehow innovative : she did not go on defining human rights or listing their principles and other such well-known things , she insisted on real life stories of neglect of these rights and how detrimental the effect of such a neglect could have on te person's life . The girl spoke in high voice , with clear pronounciation and she addressed the audience and the judjes as to keep them captivated . I , as a watcher , could percieve her concern and point of view and was eager to follow the flow of her words . Her perormance was even better than most of the others , I clearly foresaw her being one of the three winners . Surprisingly enough , it was not the case . As I stood to leave , I could see her running into her mother's arms and breaking into tears , the bitterness of failure ten took hold of her instead of her former excitement . Although I have lived up to many failure likewise myself , I could not see them as much a picture of failing to achieve your goals as this incident . Winning is fine , great and desirable wheareas failure is sour , bitter and painful . Howeer , if one understands fully te concept of failing it may finally become a reason for hard work . The problem is not falling , but getting up after the fall .
