My Sister Named Rosalyn
The one thing I would save is the picture of my sister who died an hour after she was born. It is a picture of my mom holding her in her arms. She died because she was missing parts inside of her head. She wasn’t even supposed to be born but it was a miracle that she was able to survive an hour so my mom and dad could hold her after she was born. After she died my family had all of our family over to have a funeral at our house and spread her ashes. I wasn’t born when this happened but it is very important to me because my parents had me right after and the main reason they had me is because she died. We all keep a picture in our wallet so she will always be close to us and watch over our family.
Her name was Rosalyn so my parents called her “Their little rose.” Every birthday we buy beautiful red roses for her and my Nana and Papa will drop roses at our front door for her cause they were all there in the hospital when my mom had her. It is very meaningful for our family to celebrate her birthday in May so we always remember how sweet she was. We keep a picture of her in our family room so we will always see a picture of her when we walk into the family room. My parents made a little card for her with a picture of her on it and has a writing on the back about her. My parents will always talk about her and how she was a beautiful baby. It affects me because I wasn’t born when this happened but I feel like I was when my parents talk about her. My parents get emotional when they talk about her because all the memories come back from the day of her being born.
If I could keep one thing for the rest of my life it would be the picture of her in my wallet so I can remember the stories about her and how sad of a day it was for my parents. This is why this is one of the most important and most prized things I own.
