why lies are bad

in the begin of the school year. I had a thing with an other student. I told her a lie. I tried to make her jealous. She promise not to tell anyone but she lied. let we stop liking each other. she told the person i liked at the moment about the lied i told her and she told other people. The girl I like found out and know she hates. I felt every bad i wanted to kill myself but then her best friend told me that ill be alright cause i was scaried about what might happen when i went to shcool
