I Believe
I consider myself as an adventurous and outdoors type of guy. Not only do I like to be in the woods, I also just like doing new thing. This is why I believe that adventure is key to life.
Recently, I was in New Hampshire at my family cabin. While I was there I really took advantage of the cabins surroundings. Trees right next to trees for miles. So on this Saturday afternoon I was getting really bored just sitting around, so I thought why not go on an adventure through the woods. I set off on my hour and a half journey. I left the cabin and just walked fifteen feet straight out the door, and I was surrounded by big-old-pines.
I knew of a camper that has been abandoned for at least 15 years now in the woods from my cousins, but I never went to see it. So I headed for the camper. Along the way at least thirteen spider webs intimately caressed my face. When I was about half way there I heard some leaves crunch. I looked to my right and saw a pack of wild turkeys. At this moment I was wishing I had a bow so I could have my Thanksgiving dinner early.
When I got to the camper it was sad to see how bad of a condition it was in. The floor was just missing due to so much rot. Everything in there looked like it has been chewed up by twenty different bears. Then I saw the strangest part of the whole story, cool whip. There were at least five cool whip containers just hanging around like they owned the place. Apparently the people who lived here loved cool whip. So I started getting creeped out and headed back to the cabin.
On my way back to the cabin I decided to take another, clearly marked path. As I was walking along I came upon a situation. I must have been looking to the side and not paying attention to what was in front of me. I took a step and all of a sudden I felt the wet-goo-of-the-earth, mud. I look down and my left foot was missing, not literally of course. So I grabbed a tree and pulled as hard as I could. The suction released from around my foot and I was free. I continued walking covered in spider web, mud and mosquito bites.
Surprisingly, I made it back alive. When I got in I cleaned off my foot and sat down. While I was sitting I had a feeling of relaxation not only from my hike, but also from knowing I can do that whenever I go to our cabin. I also thought of the people who never get to experience this. If all people knew how awesome outdoor adventure was I feel that everyone could be relaxed. Every day I am looking for a new adventure, whether it is indoors, outdoors or even at my house I will take action to do it.
