Snow Down

I was staring down the run trying to concentrate on my line. It was Snow Down dual slalom mountain bike race 2008. I was only 13 years old and all my competition was at least 18 years old or older. This was my last chance to qualify for the semi finals. I had won my first race and lost my second. I got lucky with my first race because my dad had crashed and I was able to hold him off to the end. During our practice runs my brakes had froze so I had been racing with no brakes at all. My dad and I had built some studded tires out of wood screws and some old used tires from a bike shop down the street. I pushed my bike to the starting line and got ready. I was racing my dad again and needed a miracle to happen to win. But just the opposite happened. I had a bad start and half way down the run my front tire washed out and I crashed hard. Luckily I hadn’t broken any thing and I got back up and finished the race. Even though I didn’t win I had a great time and hope to do it again next year.
