Author's note:

We can't get through life alone, we all need someone to listen to our problems and just be there for us when we need them.

I look out my window as the plane fly's over what will be my new home.
I have done this so many times that it doesn't even bother me that I leave
all of my friends. It's not like I had many anyways.
I look at my father next to me sleeping away the day as we are about
to land. He doesn't really like to travel which is funny since we are always moving.
We haven't stayed in one place longer than a year since my mom died.
I feel the plane slowly lower it's self in the sky and closer to my new home.
Here we go again.

Chapter 1
~Elizabeth~
I run down the stairs realizing that I have 5 minutes until school starts. My dad is
sitting in his normal spot by the T.V. I take a quick glance at the counter and I see a
white paper that wasn't there last night. I am about to pick it up when my father hands
me my back pack and nods at the time. 4 minutes left. I kiss his cheek and run out the door.
I know what the white paper means. It comes every time before we move and that's how I
know we are going to move before my father even tells me so.
As I think about the paper I walk to school which is just across the street from my temporary
home. Usually I am at the school 15 minutes before school starts to hang out with my friend Emily.
She understands that we can't have a full friendship because we both move continuously.
The school is still unlocked when I get there and I am grateful. That's when I see a boy in the office
I have never seen him here before and I am guessing he is just looking around until I see his bag filled with
stuff. I walk into the office and sign my name on the freshmen late list for the 3rd time this year.
Vice Principal Wellmen smiles at me as I make my way to the door. I look at the boy one last time before I leave
the room.
Not but 5 seconds after I leave the office Principal Maxkin calls my name. She runs over to me as I
stop in the hall way on my way to science.
"Elizabeth, Scott Wisk is supposed to be Ralph's guide today but his mother just called saying he is
sick. Would you be willing to show Ralph around the school?" I look into Principal Maxkin's hopeful eyes
waiting for an answer. Finally I decide to nod my head and follow her to the boy in the office.

Chapter 2
~Ralph~
I watched as the Principal and a young girl walked into the office. she looked to be about 15 years old
and she was dressed in sweat pants and a "Patriots" t-shirt. Her Brown strait hair went to her waist and
her blue and black book bag hung from her shoulder.
"Elizabeth Dalton this is Ralph Hill. He just moved to our little town from Missouri. I arranged so that
you have the same classes at the same times. Scott is always getting sick so I expect you to take his place."
Elizabeth just studies me for a moment before she nods to the Principal and takes my class list in her hand.
I say Goodbye to my mother and follow Elizabeth out the door into the hall way. She is quiet as we walk down
empty hall way to our lockers. Mine would be the empty one beside hers and she would have to deal with
me all year long. She is very beautiful, but it seems there's more going on than what she's telling everyone
and I'm determined to find out.
"So..." I try to start a conversation then she looks at me with her hazel eyes and I shut up. I can tell she isn't
in a good mood. She looks stressed and sad. I wonder what's going on. She is acting like a Military child so
maybe her dad is deployed or maybe she just came here from some other school.
"Listen I don't mean to be rude or ignore you I just have a lot going on right now and I don't really need to
be baby sitting all day long. I'm sorry, but it's the sad truth." I listen to her sweet voice and it's like music to my
ears. Then we get to our lockers and the bell rings. "Great. That's the late bell. We missed our first class. We have to go
to the study hall for the first hour now." She opens her locker and pulls out her science books and throws her bag
into the locker. I open mine and notice that all of my books are already in there waiting to be used. I set my bag on
a hook and grab the science one like she did.
"Elizabeth I am sorry I am just more for you to take care of. I will try to shut up and just be invisible. It's what I'm good
at, but if you ever want to talk, I mean I know we just met, but I'm a good listener." She looks at me with sad eyes and nods
before she starts walking down the hall. I close my locker and run to catch up with her.

Chapter 3
~Elizabeth~
I sit down in the brown study hair seat next to Ralph. For the next hour I go over our lessons we have been learning
for the past 3 months. It seems that science isn't his best subject. Good thing for him it's my best. When the hall break
bell rings I can't believe how much time has passed by. It was time for math and we had gotten all of our science home-
work for that night done in one hour. Now that it was algebra time I knew that my sience homework being completed
would give me extra time to try and figure out all of the problems wrong with algebra seeing how it wasn't my best subject.
I walked down the hall with Ralph as people watched us pass. I saw Emily waiting for me at my locker. When she saw me
her face turned into a smile ,then the smile faded. I knew that she saw Ralph and normaly it was just me and her everywhere
we went. She wasn't going to like this.
Emily isn't like the other girls that's for sure. She doesn't want to be around boys or seen with a boy alone. She also want's to
quart insted of date, which is okay with me, but my thing is I will only date the one I intend to marry. We sort of agree on that.
She isn't intrested in boys at all, insted she likes to play her music and try to figure out why she is doing science 24/7. It's sad that
she is amazing at everything but science.
Anyways, we make it to Emily and I can tell she is trying to figure out why the heck Ralph is there.
"Emily, Ralph. Ralph ,Emily. Scott isn't here so the Principal want's me to take care of the new kid. I couldn't just say no. Also I was
late because I found a white paper on the counter and I slept in." Emily's eyes grow wide at the mention of the dreaded whit paper.
"White paper??? You mean..." she stops and looks at Ralph. "We will talk about this later. So, Ralph where you from?" Emily ins't rude
to boys just cautious and that's how the day went. Turns out Ralph is an expert in algebra and he helped me with my homework
for that night. I was finally homework free. When the final bell rang I walked Ralph and Emily outside.

Chapter 4
~Emily~
When I first saw Ralph I didn't like the looks of him. the 6 months that Elizabeth and I have known each other it's just been
me and her. We agreeded to never let that change, but now Ralph is here and we are barely speaking. I'm afraid that she will
like Ralph more than me and stop talking to me all together.
When Elizabeth mentioned the white paper I could see the fear in her eyes. She hates moving and no one wants her to move.
She doesn't know it yet, but everyone wants her to be Home Coming Queen next month. It's a surprise for her becuase she is so new
and she doesn't have many friends. I guess Ralph might help with the friend part, but I don't want a boy to be around all the time.
"Emily, are you coming over?" Elizabeth and Ralph are looking at me like they have been talking to me for a while now. I smile at
Elizabeth and nod. "Good becuase we have a lot to talk about. So where do you live Ralph?" Ralph was very well at starting conversation.
"The blue house next the white one. What about you?" He points out the houses and I smile at Ralph. I point at the house grey house
next to the white one.
"That's my house." I smile at Elizabeth and she smiles back then she points at the white house in the middle of our houses.
"The white one is mine." Ralph look's stuned and happy all at the same time. "Well Emily we better get inside." I notice that we are in
on her lawn and we are facing the three houses.
"Well I will see you lady's tomorrow. Thank you for taking me around the school Elizabeth. It was fun." She smiles as Ralph walk's to
his house. I sort of playfully shove her and we run into the house.
