Top Goals
“If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.” Setting goals can help you from going off into the wrong direction. Goals help us determine where we want to go in life and what we want to achieve. Accomplishing the goals we set gives us motivation to keep going and become successful in life. This year, I hope to attain a score of a 29 on the ACT, start eating healthier, and start socializing with others more often.
Since this is the last year that college looks at my performance in school as a whole, it is important that I keep up with my grades. Having good grades can help me get in to the college of my choice. But, the most crucial thing to help me get into a good college would by my ACT score. Although I have not taken the test yet, my practice standardized test project that I am to get a 27 on the ACT. To achieve a 29, I must work hard and stay focused while taking prep courses to help me practice. Surprisingly, this test could possibly determine my future, so I must do my best in order to get the highest score that I can get.
Also looking to the future, I realize that my habits relating to my health could be better. I notice that my portion sizes are way too big. Usually I convince myself that it’s OK because I play volleyball, so that will burn all the extra calories. As of right now, that is true, but once college comes around, volleyball will not be there to help me. To achieve a healthier lifestyle, I will need to throw out junk food that my parents buy, cut down portion sizes, and gain an extreme amount of will power to hold myself back. I could be healthier now, but in a couple of years my food choices could affect my health badly. I cannot let other peoples choices influence me; I need to be solid throughout this journey of living a healthy life.
Having friends and meeting people can help one become a well-rounded person. Everyone influences each other and we all help each other build character. This is why I chose to make one of my goals to socialize more with others. I always find myself turning down offers to meet people or not introducing myself in the first place. The common excuse is that I am busy with extra-curricula’s, I’m too shy, or I’m scared of a person’s reaction. If I want to achieve this goal, all of the excuses must stop. It is important to make new friends and learn how to be open and fight the shyness.
During the course of this year, I hope to accomplish a score of a 29 on the ACT, become a healthier person, and to socialize more. A 29 on the ACT could get me into the college of my choice and determine my future. It will take a lot of work in order to get me there. My future health will be affected by how I create my habits now. Getting rid of excuses and gaining will-power will help me go through with this goal. Setting goals will make me a well-rounded person. To help me achieve that, I will need to let others influence me by socializing more with people. All of my goals will forget my past, motivate my present, and help my future.
