Effort can be the difference between success and failure. Trying to study and prepare for a test results in a better grade on the test than when there is no effort to study and prepare. There was a poster in Mr. Lowe’s Algebra class that says, “You will always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

At school, completing the assignments gets students farther than not putting in effort to do the schoolwork. The more effort put in to get work completed and done correctly the better a student’s grades will be. Also, if a teacher sees that a student is trying really hard in the class but just is not getting the material, the teacher will most likely be more willing to help that student. Effort is noticed by teachers and administrators.

Effort is a key factor in jobs too. The person who stays later and who tries to get the job done correctly the first time will most likely get the promotion. The worker who works harder will probably be favored by the employer. Co-workers enjoy working with the worker who does a good job and who pulls his/her owns weight more than the slothful worker. Customers also like workers who will go the extra mile to make the customers happy.

For many situations in life, such as school and jobs, effort is necessary. Do you want to succeed? Just try.
