I think that even if you are not christian, you will make it in heaven! How do we know if what the bible says is true? We don't really have a reliable source for that. And just because you are not a follower does not? mean you are not his children. If God truly created us equally, in some way, why would there need to be a reason for going to hell or to heaven? In god's eyes we are his children, and nothing can change that. You shouldn't always trust something you read. I mean how do we know that they are hiding the truth from us with this bible?? How do we know it's not all made up?

If you don't believe in the bible than why do you believe in the existence of a heaven or Hell ? It is true that God creates us all equal, but we sure don't die equals. And yes God is all merciful, but you have to ask for your forgiveness. It is our actions and beliefs during life that make us who we are and what we will become after death.

Well if you don't believe in the bible than why do you even believe in heaven or hell ? Seems to me like you're taking what you want from it and leaving the rest, you believe in the bible's explanation of the afterlife but not the reasons for it? God created us equal but we sure don't die equal, we choose who we become and therefore what becomes of us after death.

Agreed. Too many people are accepting their opinion as the absolute truth. I don't know if God exists or not; I don't believe he does, but don't make this out to be the absolute truth.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

I totally agree with you. I've never quite put it into those particular words before but that sounds like my frame of mind.

The Bible has more proof to it's accuracy than the history books we have in our schools. If you think about it, how do you know George Washington even existed, you don't because you have never met him. You think you know he did because of historical references, all in books. Jesus is in the books too. There is no denying that Jesus lived, because he did. When looking at any piece of historical writing I suggest evaluating it by three standards, which when looking at all writings, they are evaluated by such: bibliographical test, external evidence test and internal evidence test. The bibliographical test looks at the author's history's. And in the Bible there is proof for the authors and for the references made in the book. The external evidence test is checking other references outside of the Bible to verify whats in it and the internal evidence test is checking within the document to see if there are contradictions. In the Bible there are none, so it is true. There are reliable sources for the existence for Jesus and for the people in the Bible, the time-lines in the Bible aligned with other historical events it's referenced are in our history books. Anyways, on to going to hell and being created as a child of God. This is a question a lot of people ask. If you do not believe Jesus lived, then died on the cross for your sins and that he rose again, that He was God and that you are a sinner and need his sacrifice, no you will not go to heaven. God still loved you, but he loved the people of the world so much that he gave Christ for everyone, but people must believe in him. Nothing can change that God loves us, just like for most of us nothing can change that our parents love us, but we can choose to reject God's love just as we choose to reject our parents love sometimes. But we have all done things wrong in our lives and we have consequences for those here on earth (enforced by our parents, police, government, etc), but also consequences before God, but Christ made himself a sacrifice, because he didn't do anything wrong in his life. He was perfect. We need him to stand before us in front of God other wise God sees our sins and our unrighteousness and he can't be in the presence of that, thus condemnation.

Well i agree w/ you. i don't think the bibe can be remodified. I'm just saying that people can pick and choose what they believe from it. For example, ppl use the bible to assert that homosexuality is wrong, but in today's society, homosexuality is more accepted than before. to be honest, i don't follow the bible at all. i was just making a point about it. i, myself, believe in karma and recarnation so hell to me doesn't exist unless i do something really horrible in this lifetime, which i haven't. :]

Not wanting to be mean but you just said Truth isn't truth just because you believe it. Maybe God isn't truth just because you believe it.

If God so badly wants us to believe and follow him why doesn't he make is presence more known. I don't think I'm a bad person because I don't fall under the power of suggestion.

I don't think the bible can be remodified to fit today. The bible was written by humans, but someone made and argument that it is god breathed (god told them what to say). Just throwing that in there, more to fit your beliefs than mine.

well people don't follow the bible because it's 100% accurate and can be scientifically proven. they follow the bible b/c it has words of knowledge and life lessons. i just wanted to say that point, but yes i agree, that nonchristians deserve a chance to go to heaven. i mean...what if they never even known who God was? like a baby for example. i think that people shouldn't follow the bible word for word because the bible hasn't been modified for today's society and the reality of how people live in this day and age. however, i also think that people should respect and tolerate other religions and religious ideas, even if you don't agree w/ it. enough said. i'm buddhist by the way.

Because He chooses not to infringe on free will. It's not sin that sends poeple to hell , it's failure to choose to have a relationship with Him.

Because he chooses not to infringe on free will. He doesn't want anyone to go to hell . But because they choose not to have a relationship with him, they send themselves to hell . I don't want to sound like one of those in-your-face-christians, but this is what I believe and this is the place to talk about what you believe....

2 Timothy 3:16 says:All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful. So the bible was written by humans, but God pretty much told them what to write.

Why would God condemn anyone to hell if he loves us all? Gallagher, your logic makes no sense to me.

You don't jesus tomb is empty, thats just what your bible says. And the research done to say that prayer helps healing was probably a christian, and there is a reason miracles are called miracles... it's because they are mircales not because god made them happy. And for the rest of your questions science.

So like doing 51% positive things and 49% negative things? Getting to heaven isn't about being more of a good person than a bad person, if it was no one would ever get there. Getting to heaven is about trying to live a Godly life and having a relationship with God. However, God does speak about something like karma. He says you reap what you sow. If you sow selflessness, you'll reap selflessness. If you so bitterness, you'll reap bitterness. But going to heaven has absolutely nothing to do with how good a person you are.

Pretty loose standard. don't hurt other people, and play your part in the universe in a positive way. Did you ever hear of the concept of "karma"? I feel that heaven and hell are the ultimate and final karma return for how you spend your life.
