Courage
I walk now through hallowed places,
Haunted by the ancient faces
Of those who died here to defend
Not a life, but their own end.
In the end of life we’re left
A choice—to die a hero or bereft
Of all the things we mortals need
To go where our Fates will one day lead.
Now I go to find my way,
To live my life from day to day;
My¬ courage is as great to me
As that of heroes, past or to be.
