Swiftly the bloom fades
to hasty to fast,
the colors dull
the pedals detach
gliding toward the earth below,
singing their farewells
they peer back one last time
and sail toward the unknown
not knowing what to expect
not knowing what they will encounter,
fear flitters through them
they miss there sunshine,
what makes them merry
what fills them with infatuation
is now vanished
now gone,
how they fade,
so fast, so soon.

One night when I was starting a story, I got an idea to write a poem at the beginning as an introduction to my story and to forshadow and give a clue as to what the story would be about. This would be that poem.
