I am an Island
I am an island
Surrounded by land
No creature ever roams
My still, silver sands
No tides embrace
My barren shores
Seas form not
My coral doors
Ships seldom venture
In sight of my eyes
I sea no pearl sails
My island’s no prize
Seabirds are strangers
To my crooked palms
They stand wilted and askew
Leaves rusted bronze
I am an island
Surrounded by land
No creature ever roams
My still, silver sands
But perhaps one day
When the moon shines full
I’ll see a great fleet
Pass steadily through
