In My Dreams
In my dreams
I am confident and sure.
I have no fears that hold me back.
I make no wrong turns.
I am always right.
In my dreams
I have all A’s on my transcripts.
I am at the top of all my classes.
I sore through my junior and senior year;
with no complications.
In my dreams
I see your face as I walk across that stage;
and grasp my diploma with shaking hands.
I choose my diploma with none of the
traditional stress to follow.
You are here, holding me tight as joyful tears
roll off my cheeks as I read my acceptance letter.
In my dreams
I have just obtained my four year degree in psychology.
I am in the middle of my second year of work in my
chosen occupation at twenty-seven.
I am waiting for approval on my own business proposal.
In my dreams
I am thirty-six, and I am happily married.
I have a wonderful family but then I wake
and I am fifteen again; I know that it was only
“In my dreams”.
