He was a boy with no purpose, so he became a soldier.

He was a boy with no home life, so he learned to survive on his own.

He was a boy with no money, so he started working at fourteen.

He was a boy with no love, so he dismissed the possibility.

He is a man with a purpose, to teach students of their history.

He is a man with a home life, a family who welcomed him.

He is a man with money, working towards his future.

He is a man with love, for this man is mine.

The author's comments:

This piece was written as a Drabble assignment, a poem written with exactly 100 words. The drabble was written as an immortalization of my significant other and his immense progress through life. It was written to highlight his resilience, self-worth, and confidence. I couldn't be more proud of him.
