Dreams
At night, is the time when we are the most secure.
Creamy thoughts, like milk so pure.
Sugary syrup rains in our minds.
Sweetening the bitterness found within our confines.
A land that is entirely our own.
The only place where we are content when alone.
In this haven, with flowers so fragrant.
Envelope us despite our senses so vacant.
Here we can act as we please to any degree.
Swimming with creatures in the depths of the sea.
Winning an award for a noble achievement.
Arresting someone for mistreatment.
Being the first to finish a marathon.
Finding a truth that light was shed upon.
Instantly, our eyelids leap apart.
With the alarm, we wake with a start.
Time to rise and prepare.
A factory worker’s life is filled with despair.
Awaking with a sigh and rolling in bed.
Wishing he could remain at home instead.
Grunting and slowly shuffling out.
There is no time to doddle or pout.
A dream may give us every treasure.
A false reality that alludes to our every pleasure.

This piece is a reminder to kids and teens that they shouldn't live in a false reality. They should be aware of real life rather than wish to thrive in a dream. Dreams are always encouraged, but shouldn't become the only reality of people.
