I'm A Special Speck
This speck likes Indie music
Short skirts and baggy jeans,
The stars and her dreams.
Soul searching mystic
Walks barefoot in the stream
Alone to scream.
Scream your head off little speck
You know it's all you'll ever be
No matter your plea.
You are your own suspect
A meaningless fish in the sea
Just another tree.
Cry because you think you're special
Different than every other girl
A unique individual pearl,
But you're no different than any other vessel.
God doesn't pick favorites,
In the end we're all faceless.

This poem was inspired by the idea that in the end, nothing we do really matters, no matter how hard you may try to stand out from the rest, we all meet the same fate. This is something that I have a difficult time wrapping my brain around because my ego makes me think I’m a special case, that my existence is somehow more unique, that somehow I will live forever and it is humbling to remember, and somewhat reassuring that at some point everyone's existence will end.
