Beside you, I was happy
In your embrace, I was safe
the beating of your heart calmed me
The sound of your voice excited me
Every smile gave me butterflies
Roses still rest on my bedside
Scattered petals resemble the tears
We were happy until we weren't
Ending the 'us' felt wrong
Even though we knew it was right
Teaching us that sometimes a loss is a gain
