You sat with me a while in the pouring down rain
rocking back and forth on that seat of white you never appreciated more,
said you liked the way I live by chance
but keep my heart safe.
I could tell behind that glazed sense of nothingness,
you once were safe too.

I explained to you the blankets that lay heavy upon my heart to keep it the way it is.
The torn ones, the jagged ones, the unique ones and the beautiful ones;
You said you had them all,
ones just like mine with layers of pink and a small amount of rain
that bled with the other colors together and left them cold and wet for years.
but at some point past the age that I had reached ,
you left them out on the streets
and walked around the corner to a new and weightless life.
A part of me envied you through the shivers you sent down my protruding spine

I danced with your eyes that day
out there in my street that I still see from my broken window.
we danced like lovers and I was faithful in the idea of an us.
I could have seen the future if I held onto that sad shade of blue
a few seconds longer.
But that's just not my style; I didn't care to know
so I laughed instead, under my breathe
with all the thoughts I wish you could have seen but I'd have never told.

You knew my state of mind without any past acquaintance
and knew how to befriend it.
I felt the beauty you felt I portrayed
and sighed in awe to know we shared a moment together that was impossible
between any others.
You gazed back and with weary hands ran your fingers through strands of hair
you seemed to cherish like a child.
My neck; a resting stop; you dared to instill comfort
and that, I didn't mind.

You knew me and I knew you and not a word was said.
in a dreary canvas masterpiece,
our smiles shown through and lit up the town.
from a small town girls porch,
with the gentle movement of to and fro
that would make you fall in love,
they had a silent conversation all their own.
