Who knew the boy hiding in a barrel

Would’ve turned out to be a deity

Who shows his enemies peril

And demands, from all around, piety

Who started to oppose

An unjust legislation

Who began battling with foes

That bring societal devastation

Who was separated from all he held dear

For shattering the skull of a noble

Engaging upon new frontiers

While he emerged ever-mobile

Who’s brother died

Enveloped in his deep embrace

In which his feelings of unjust amplified

As all familiarity disappeared without a trace

Who set free a land

Ruled by a man most malign

Defeating the malevolent emperor hand-to-hand

Sufficiently ending his bloodline

Who went from his last moments

To awakening within his final hours

To show yet his strongest opponent

True courage, strength, and willpower

So glory to the young sun god;

May he be known for generations

To ever eternally sound

The Drums of Liberation

This poem, to all who aren't familiar with the series, is inspired by Eichiro Oda's "One Piece." This was written for my Creative Writing class for one of our weekly assignments in which we have to write at least one original work. This particular week, I experienced the worst writer's block I had ever gone through, almost nothing came to mind whenever I tried writing. I went home that day and watched a bit of "One Piece," where inspiration finally hit me: I should write about things I enjoy, so I narrowed that down to the different characters in the show. This was the first I wrote in the series, obviously about the main character, Straw Hat Luffy.
