Circumstances are circumstantial,
Take as much as you can.
The salt will always sting the most,
But the boy will always out-dream the man.

You will sometimes fall on your face,
As the ground can roll you by.
It’ll take your head out of the clouds,
But the stairs can still take you high.

You learned so much to look beyond the box,
But flesh can be thicker than blood.
You’ve ‘opened your eyes’ so many times,
Blind to compassion floating above like the sun.

Forgiveness is beyond belief,
But memory is as a stone.
Don’t live regretting the things you’ve done.
Love needs some dirt to grow.

Friends can withstand wind and rain,
They thrive in heat and snow.
Just keep your friendships standing up.
Make sure to feed the roots below.

I wrote this because an incident in the evening kept me awake thinking deep into the night.

Hey, thanks for the comment on my poem. You're pretty good yourself. My favorite line from this one is "Love needs some dirt to grow." That's so deep, and so true. Keep it up.
