this...
Across the night, a lonely firefly
An aspiring star, flashing on and off
Searching for one thing, the same thing as me
To share someone's heart
Before it dies.

Rust and static rule the ignorant mind
Unwilling to see the truth
To distinguish love from fantasy
Or hope from stupidity

That's me
What a waste of insomnia.

The pencil leaving its staticky trail
The color beginning to reveal itself in the sky

Good morning.
How did you sleep?
I didn't.
Neither did I.

It's time to go somewhere new
Time to leave you behind.
Don't go!
I must.
It's time to look for inspiration
You never mattered anyway.

Can't I come?
Why, you never asked!
Does that mean I can come?!
But the answer's too muffled by static.

Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk...

Across the sky, a lonely firefly
He still hasn't found a mate
He flashes on and off
Searching in vain
They've all gone away.

A lightening azure sky
A useless telephone pole
A firefly
Turning into a butterfly.

****... the "this" at the beginning wasn't actually supposed to be there. IGNORE IT!! Unless, of course, you think it adds to the poem, in which case certainly it was meant to be there. ;p

****... the "this" at the beginning doesn't actually belong there... IGNORE IT!! Unless, of course, you think it adds to the poem, in which case obviously I wrote it in on purpose. 8-)
