March eased its way in, careful not to alert anyone of its intentions

It began with cloudy gray-skies, tear-drops falling from the eyes

Of whoever thought it would be fun, for Spring to try and “jump the gun”

There was a weekend of shine, and sun, lives were brightened, mine was one

Unfortunate souls who had just begun, to think that Spring had actually come

Darkness returned; the games were done, life was miserable once again

Just waiting for Winter to end, Spring left us not knowing when

Happiness would not be a thing of the past, hope not dwindling like the color of the grass

Mother Nature broke our hearts, with the torment of that false start

I just want to see the Sun once more, is that really too much to ask for?

This is Nature’s punishment for our sins, I forgot to mention

The author's comments:

This work is an embodiment of my emotions pertaining to this Spring’s false start. I was born and raised in California, where a majority of the time there was sunshine. After having moved to Washington, I have begun to experience this “winter depression” I have heard people describe my whole life on a personal-level. Spring brought forth a few days of sunny, warm weather that brightened my spirits, only to withdraw back into the gloomy clouds. And now I, for once in my life, long for the Sun’s return.
