"Numquam finitur, donec vita finiatur."
- K. D'Angelo Alexander

Into Darkness, I fell

Trying to chase the Light

Only, how could I tell

Which way was right?

A life filled with pain,

Could have been avoided

Now I wait in vain

For a love that’s dead

Into Darkness, I fell;

From the Light I rise

I have witnessed Hell

With my own two eyes

We are born in Darkness;

As will we die

We must spend our lives

Following the light

The author's comments:

This poem is intended to construe the concept of how our choices impact our lives, down to the most minute decisions we make. Some may go down the wrong path, take company with the wrong people. Some may even spend their whole lives ruminating over one event, or person, unable to let go and move on. Hence the concluding quatrain of the poem that essentially states “We are born in darkness, and we will die in darkness, so we must spend our lives focusing on the good things, and trying to achieve greatness.”
