The Forgotten
Memories don’t last forever.
Someday they all have to go.
 To the other side.
 We can’t get back.

 I yell.

The key broke of years ago.
 The other half is missing,
 The lock is jammed.
 The door is decaying.

 I scream.
 I call your name.

 The other side lasts forever.
But memories get pushed into the ground
I get pushed into the ground.
 Until I am forgotten.

 You can’t hear me.
 You don’t remember.
 But I’m not dead.

 I’m there, wishing, waiting
 For you to remember me.
Hoping some light will shine in the darkness
So you will see me, there on the other side.

 Still in your mind.
 But forgotten.
There is not enough time to remember.
 Memories don’t last forever.
