A Girl's Best Friend
October 26, 2009
When teenage drama hurt her
And friends were gained or lost
You saved her from the madness,
Were there whate’er the cost.
She loves you, oh, so dearly;
You are her closest friend!
Because you will, quite clearly,
Be with her ‘til the end.
With grown-up problems thick’ning
And debts she could not pay –
With cheating boyfriends quick’ning
Her jealousy’s delay,
You brought relief so quickly,
Your comfort to her heart –
Whenever it feels sickly
You take away the smart.
When old age makes her feeble,
Crippled and alone,
Her need for you will treble,
Oh faithful one, her own.
When her last breath is going,
She hopes to hold you near;
Always, ever knowing
Her chocolate is here.
