We Still Listen
Why is it
that we can hear the birds chirp us a 'good morning',
even through closed windows and doors?
Why is it
that, even though we shut ourselves away,
we still listen?
Are we all that much different from the birds?
We
are
all
animals.
So why is it
that we genuinely think nothing of it
when we place ourselves on such high thrones
while we ignore
but
still
listen?

I'd decided that the only reason I heard it was because either I wanted to hear the bird, or the bird wanted me to hear it.
