I’m walking on this lonely road

My soul is gone, I’m lost

I see the other side of things

Because that line I’ve crossed

If you say I’ve broke your heart

I’ve broke mine ten times more

There is no lifeguard in the night

I float away from shore

The water is like an earthquake

My world is growing dim

It took me this long to look far back

And now I don’t know how to swim

I can’t deal with life’s rapids

And the water is so cold

I’ve made a huge mistake I see

For trying to be bold

I’m not connected to the world

And you’re my missing link

I have nothing to grab on to

So I begin to sink

Summer is supposed to time out

But god, I’m not okay

I thought that I could survive my life

Until you swam away

I feel my self leaving now

I can actually stand by my grave

I have so many problems

I just need one final wave

The water is so foggy

I’m alone in my own lake

I can’t keep paddling any longer

Life isn’t giving me a break

The sky is sprinkled with fiery red

As my sun goes down

You smothered me in hopelessness

And now my soul has drowned

you have a true talent in using unusual comparisons and unexpected words to capture raw emotion in your work. its almost entrancing. i've felt the way described in this particular poem so many times, its almost like youve gone back into my past and pulled out one of my own memories, morphing it into a poem. you are a brilliant poet, five stars
