"Girl in the Dark"
What is left?
 When she reaches
 Deep into her soul
 Just to discover
 The emptiness
 That wallows in her core

 The pain suddenly
 Releases a weeping sound
 From her lips
 It begins as a whisper
 Then increases
 To a screech
 Of raw hallow emotion

 Only the feel
 Of self infliction
 Comforts her
 At the worst stage
 In her life
 No one really knew
 If she could crawl
 Out of the hole
 That consumed her surroundings
 She didn’t even know
 If she could
 Just as she reached
 Her darkest moments
 A streak of light
 Beamed through the shadows
 She didn’t know
If it would be strong enough
 To pull her through

 But,
 If she didn’t make it
 There would be no story
 No record
 Of the girl
 Who pulled through the darkness
Made it out of the hole
 That resided in her mind
 Woke up
To see the sun shining bright
On the path to a better life
