Black Rose
Sweet and charming
Its fragile fragrance filled the air
Its petals made of the gentlest silk
The incarnation of beauty
Love
Hope
Happiness
And long sought apologies
Or
Bitter and foul
Its sharp scent poisoned the air
With a thin stem laden with thorns
That pierces the heart and bleed
Death
Destruction
Despair
And loathing that knows no bounds
Looking down at the rose I hold
I contemplate the meaning it may pack
Am I truly color blind?
Or is this red rose black?
