Sonnet 23
can there be light in a place that is dark?
still I lay, a shallow hole in the earth.
red paint is dripping, this picture is stark.
an unsettling fate, the night gives birth.
dressed in threads of honor, I feel so naked.
brother has left me ripped away by hate
with mama just left with a tag, so sacred.
I want to go home! oh god its too late.
fire. bloody streaming lights the solemn sky
I did it for dad, will he think i'm brave?
my eyes start to glaze only I ask why
a hero ill be known, I die a slave.
I still don't know if it was wrong or right,
it could be my eyes, but I see no light.
