Looking Through the Fog

I look out at a field of gray
And people moving through the fog
No emotion on a face
Mind’s as murky as a bog
These people know of feeling, none
And of color they know less
How they go on in this life
I can only make a guess
I send a ray of sun to them
A little brightness through the gray
I spy a smile on a face
And I hope that it will stay.
