As a Band

What would it be like?
Center stage
Singing to hyped up guitar rage
Poems about knowledge, love, fear, and pain
Where you don’t have to worry
Or fight
Or complain
Just me
So free
And the band keeps on playin’
And the drums are slayin’
All while the crowd is going wild
It is a place where my value is my voice
It’s my choice
Where no one can tell me where to go
And to treat me like a child
Where I am more than an equal this time
And all I have to ever calculate
Is only what to rhyme
Where I feel like I’m on a mountain
And the bass will just keep on poundin’
Could it be that I feel
More at home
Than I have ever felt before?
But where in the world can I
Just open up this door?
Well, I guess I’ll just keep on dreamin’
That spotlight will keep on beamin’
For that moment that no adult will ever understand
I’m with the band

Every girl wants center stage at least once. This is my expression of being a rock star for a day!

Thank you! I wrote it a long time ago. I should probably be using this more often! And yes, thank you, my family wasn't directly affected, but we had a lockdown and everyone was crying when we heard the news. I was in shock. It was very upsetting and the town is covered in a cloud of saddness and not knowing what to do. We're all questioning ourselves.

Another great poem.  But it's not just true of teens.
