If You Knew Me
I'm the girl with the constant smile
and an obnoxious laugh to go with it.
The one to pick you up when you're down
and the 11 o'clock phone call when you just need someone to talk to.
When and if my smile vanishes,
something's gone wrong
but you never would've guessed that.
You wouldn't have even noticed.
I choose to not show how easily I'm upset.
I try to be strong for others;
for those who can't be strong for themselves.
We're friends, right?
But sometimes you make me want to ask:
Do you know me? Have you ever seen my tears?
Doubtless.
Ever in the shadows;
waiting.
