You let go of my hand.
The last kiss goodbye
Left me standing alone in the sand.

The tides rolled over the land
As we watched the clouds roll by.
You let go of my hand.

I'll admit I was lost in dreamland,
Thinking. You, after a sigh,
Left me standing alone in the sand.

I only wanted that ring on my left-hand,
And a happily ever after for you and I.
You let go of my hand.

Along the horizon, your eyes scanned
For hope of a boat drifting nigh.
Left me standing alone in the sand.

Gone was the wedding that we had planned,
All for some hussy with a thinner thigh.
You let go of my hand,
Left me standing alone on the sand.

The author's comments:
Long story short, the guy I loved left me, then got married almost exactly a month after we split up. I'm hoping my readers can feel my frustration and depression with this situation.
