When I look in the mirror
When I look in the mirror
The girl I see
Accusingly stares
Back at me
Her eyes question me
And drip like rain
And she asks why
I caused this pain
But this girl I see
Is not my friend
There’s no reason to care
Or even pretend
But why all this hurt?
It’s easy to see
My body receives
Little sympathy
But now I must weigh
The approval of friends
With simply giving up
All those stupid trends
My ears are bursting
And my eyes are retreating
I must now listen to
The one thing that’s still beating
My sight is now clear
The choice must be made
For the heart lasts forever
And my friends will fade
Now when I look in the mirror
And she smiles back at me
I see the face of one
Who is no enemy
