Finding the New Me
You think you know someone, when it is not so
As you begin to discover more and more,
You find your relationship cannot grow.
Your reach out, but just hear the slamming door,
Days without sun, only the rain pouring in
Bad storm brewing, making everyone scared and lonely.
The words, the anger, the fights, the unending din
Never feeling loved and treasured for myself only
Now the storm is over, and the sun shines bright
I emerge stronger, wiser, grounded, and whole
No more name-calling, not another sleepless night,
Mistakes, regrets behind me- an empowered soul.
Now I realize that I have grown strong
Though you hurt me, I know where I belong.
