Silent Good-bye
As I walk along the dock,
With flowers and bible in hand,
Angel tears gently pour from the sky.
As we near the end we quietly pray,
Our lonely, sorrowful cry.
Then I whisper my scripture,
Failing to hold back all the tears.
Then I threw in the flowers,
Hoping he had many wonderful years
And Wishing I could’ve played a bigger role in his days.
Or maybe at least had another hour.
Glancing up, the heavens were still a miserable gray.
As we turn to leave, I look once more at the sky
Seeing his smile one last time,
For our sweet, silent good-bye.
