Reality
Darkness comes,
Swiftly,silently, deadly.
It consumes me,
suffocates me,
Pulls me down.
Down where light can't reach me.
I feel the end drawing near,
Not even a breath away,
and I do not fight it.
I welcome it with arms wide open,
but it does not come.
I begin to shake,
but not from fear.
I realize it's only a dream,
a sweet, sweet dream,
too good to be true.
And then I wake up.
I see you there standing over me,
as tears fill my eyes,
and pour down like rain.
You pull me close,
and wrap your arms around me.
Whispering in my ear,
telling me everything will be ok,
that it was just a dream.
But I know it won't be okay,
Until that dream becomes reality....
